Revisting New Year's Wishes....
Wish list for 2008:
1. Learn how to dive - go to an open course in Feb/ March! [not done]
2. Go to Seoul & some part of Japan for a 10 day holiday [not done]
3. Go to one of the larger conferences [might be going to the AP Tech conf]
4. Lose 10 kgs [nothing's lost...yet]
5. Pay rise + good bonus [Yes but bonus was so-so]
6. Stop making menial mistakes and make queen bee and other idiots eat crow! [hehehe]
7. New wardrobe...anyone wants to contribute? [will do so after Feb]
8. THAT miu miu bag [giving this up for no.7]
9. A bf? hahahahaha...... [I'm still laughing]
10. More wine & cheese sessions [*wink*]
11. More $ inside the fewer ang pows that I'll be collecting this yr [will know next week]
12. Ability to invest my $ and get 12% returns within a yr *more laughter*
13. E-savers to STOP adjusting their interest rates down...go UP dammit! [they're revising down to 0.8%! WTF! I might as well leave my $ under my bed]

Watched "Atonement" with Sing, Chow, Lefei and Gilson tonight. Thanks Sing for the free tix! The film was excellent and if I had read the book, I would think that the film did the novel justice. The film direction was excellent...it was very well done and could even show us, the audience, the POV of Briony. It's such a sad film though. Leaves a very lingering bittersweetness in one's mouth. You just want everything to be hunky dory and that the lovebirds will eventually come together and live happily ever after. But that's not reality, is it?
First posting of mine for 2008!!!
Darn it. Yet another year has flown by and as usual, the holidays aren't long enough. Took a sickie today and that's why I'm at home blogging. I'm not going to do a reflection on the past year 'cos 2007 kinda rocked and 2008 had better be a blast!!!!!

Nanking
Watched "Nanking" with Sing, Chow, Jaimes and Lefei yesterday and I must say that it is a very important film that everyone should watch. It's not your typical documentary where there's a narrator and where you see interviewees. The 'narrators' are from the perspectives of the people who were actually involved in the safety zone in Nanking. In addition, you hear the perspectives of the Japanese soldiers who were at Nanking. One thing I like about this film is that it doesn't strive to be 'objective' and it doesn't sell itself to be one. In fact, it starts out telling you that its from all these different people's diaries etc. Absolutely subjective but yet its an important story to tell. It shows the truth - that war is cruel, bad and should not and cannot be covered up. Truth - humans will rise to the occassion and do something that's beyond their ordinary lives in order to protect and save the less fortunate. Truth - its not time to hate or blame...the world needs to heal. People suffered. We need to remember their pain and suffering in order to ensure that this does not happen again.
