Chowchow won 2 pairs of tickets to the above Comedy Night held at the Hollandse Club but he wasn't able to attend it so I was given both pairs. Went there with Joe and his 2 other friends. Was really looking forward to an evening of laughter, especially after the past 2 stressful months.
Was seated towards the back so unfortunately, I couldn't take any nice photos of the 3 comedians so I didn't bother. I love stand up comedy and all respect for these guys because it is really not easy to make people laugh.
I really had a lot of fun laughing my head off, especially when Daniel Kinno kept making fun of the audience members seated in the front row. I think that was the really fun part because it wasn't a rehearsed set and only showed how witty and quick he is.
As expected, the 3 comedians repeated their jokes from other festivals so...if you want to know how my evening went, here are the jokes that they said:
Dave Callan did the WHOLE "Single Ladies" song minus 2 backup dancers and he's really really good.
Daniel Kinno really did do this whole set but after this, he was full-on mocking the audience, which was HILARIOUS!
Couldn't find a video with Colum McDonnell's set...so I guess he was lucky that nobody recorded that set! Haha. But I find it hilarious as to how he refers to himself as the last living Hobbit in Ireland. :)
Destressed? Most definitely. Especially when I had 2 bottles of Tiger Radler that evening - the only Tiger beer you'll ever see me drink.
I finally managed to catch Russell Peters in Singapore this year!! This is still his Notorious tour so apparently, he recycled some of his jokes but I didn't attend last year's stand up so it would be new to me.
He actually brought 2 DJs with him. (0_o) It really felt like I was walking into a club when we entered the Indoor Stadium and if it wasn't a Monday, I probably would've felt the urge to go clubbing after. LOL.
As usual, Peters was really funny and he's at his best when he's picking fun at the members of the audience AND when he's imitating accents. Super funny! It was such a shame that it ended when it ended and I think we could've gone on much longer but of course, it has to end at a sane hour. We had to go to work the next day.
I'm looking forward to seeing him again next year and I hope that it's all new material!!
It has been an exhausting week that felt like it was dragging extra long...but it's SATURDAY!! :D I love the weekends...it's never long enough, agree?
Anyways, I've signed up for the Mizuno Mt Faber 10 km run, which will be happening next Sun, 13 June! All in support for financial aid of students! :) Okie dokes...have to continue doing my Japanese homework followed by translation of Mixim 11 Vol. 6. Deadline looms....
Ooh...my family from the US will be arriving in Singapore tomorrow! My apartment will be crowded...imagine...7 adults (including maid), 1 child and a dog...squashed into 3 bedrooms....I'm most afraid that Baileys will go mental and my cuz will start shouting at Baileys. Not fun. Hate noise. Upside is that I promised to bring my cuz to Timbre for live music and Universal Studios! :) Will defo blog about those experiences!

Oooh...look what the mail brought it last week! The English samples of the current comic series that I'm translating for Chuangyi Publishing - Mixim 11!! It is a shounen manga, meaning that it is meant more for boys rather than girls. Explains the tons of action scenes, fighting and less dialogue.
There's a slight thrill seeing my name as the translator and yes, there definitely is a sense of satisfaction in seeing this final product and knowing that there will be many kids out there enjoying my translation. :D
I'm not sure when these comics will hit the stands. If you already see it on the shelves in bookstores, do let me know! Volume 4 is sitting on my desk and ready to be translated. Have fun reading them, folks!
Yes, I am still alive and breathing sooty London air. =P
I have been so busy translating the comic that I think that I have gone cross-eyed AND while I was reading a newspaper the other day, I looked at the pictures from right to left instead of left to right. (@_@)
My blatant use of emoticons also states how manga-fied I feel right now. Deadline's tomorrow!! Ahh...oh gosh. I'll be spending my Sunday translating. -_-;
Well...this is just gonna be a short entry until I finish translating!! Backlog...backlog....
