Welcome to my blog !
The school that I am working in has organised a Hari Raya Decorations competition and each department is supposed to decorate as a team...but I ended up decorating my department alone! Boohoo...! Well, if there are any prizes, I am getting it. =P

The rules state that we're supposed to send in 3 photos but there is NO way that we could send 3 standalone pics...so...here's what I did:

The rules didn't state that we HAD to send in 3 standalone photos, right? Hiak hiak hiak....

Anyways...may the best department win!! Aiy...I'm not too fussed about winning/ losing. I can't wait for Sept to be over!! Sep is a keeerrrazy month for me. I just celebrated my parents' anniversary last night (will blog about it soon), had to come in early today to do a conference call with the US, am meeting Sing for drinks later tonight (yay...my sister from another set of parents is back!!), have YET to take pics of my dress choices to get votes, will be meeting customers to pass them their Samantha Vega bags (woohoo~ they're here!!), celebrating Moon's birthday this weekend, school's official opening and open house the week after Hari Raya and THAT cousin's wedding on 29th (coincides with Open House)....somebody, clone me!!

Ok...shall get out of my office and take a thawing walk. I'm freezing....brrrr....my office is like a freezer while my room oscillates between a furnace and a proper room. Ugh. I'm going to get sick soon.

I went to watch "Blood Ties" with my family on Sun evening after dinner. I have been wanting to watch this film ever since I saw the trailer one odd day in London. Yes...it has been 1 month in the waiting!!
It sells itself as a horror flick by first time local director Chai Yee-Wei who wrote the film as well. The story is mainly about a murdered cop's spirit possessing his sister in order to seek revenge. This is based on the belief that the spirit of a deceased returns on the 7th night and that the murdered cop can only rest in peace once the blood of those who murdered him is cast on his grave.
This movie has a very strong cast of newcomers as well as veterans such as Cheng Pei Pei and Kenneth Tsang. However, the most incredible performance has to go to the lead - Joey Leong, who was such a convincing possessed Qing. Mind you, she's only 14 years old.
There has been much talk about the rape scene and I can't remember the name of that model who acted as the cop's wife. I must say that THAT was the only scene that she acted really well. When she wasn't being raped, she seemed a little too plastic. However, its her first acting role..so kudos to her.
Generally, I enjoyed the movie. I think the storyline's good, the pace was good and the acting was great for most. It can be improved further on the cinematography side. The gun fighting scene seemed too fake as certain scenes were too long while others were too choppy but overall, the music just doesn't quite gel. The director tried to be poignant in some scenes but it just ended up seemingly pointless (scene where the balloon floated, the little girl etc...). Seemed jarringly trying to be arty when the film's pace isn't meant to be so.
Nonetheless, I can't stress how great the plot is! Go watch it!! Be more thrilled than spooked. This ain't a horror flick. Seriously.

I know that I haven’t really been updating my blog and those who are regular readers must be going, “HUH?” about my earlier post.  Those who have been following my tweets (www.twitter.com/melfann) would know that I’m getting frost-bitten in my office thanks to the powerful air-con…and that I just ate the most expensive bee hoon @ $3.20 (only bee hoon, veg, a piece of fish cake and a piece of fake fish fillet!!)…and that I can’t decide to bake or make ice-cream.

Another thing that I can’t decide on is what to wear for THAT cousin’s wedding.  Hmms…I’ve decided that I will take photos and let you readers vote! ;)  Do help me make a good choice ok?

September is a kerrrazzzzy month for me.  Sing will be back next week (yay!), my parents’ anniversary is also next week…Moon’s bday will soon follow.  That’s on the personal front.  On the work front, it’ll be my school’s (ok, I don’t own it…I just work for them) Official Opening and Open House at the end of the month.

So…busy busy busy!!!!

Will promise to take those piccies and post! Please vote ok?

Cheers!

Being A Rock

A rock is sturdy and strong

At times it crumbles with force

People can lean against a rock to get rest

Plants and sometimes flowers, try to grow on it

“Where is my rock to lean on?” thinks the rock

“I want to be as pretty as that little flower” says the rock

A rock thinks itself dull and ugly

After all, it is just a blob

It only takes a sculptor to see

The hidden beauty that a rock holds

The rock is part of Nature’s gift

Small ones can be used to build houses

Large ones where we marvel at their magnificence

It is only then that the rock sees itself

As part of this beautiful world

And then the rock smiles and says…

It is not so bad being a rock!

My bro just came home for good and look at the yummies he brought home!! Above is hot chocolate from Amsterdam. The chunks of chocolate are stuck on wooden spoons and all you have to do is dunk them into hot milk and give it a good whirl.

I've tried the one with the red pepper and the result wasn't very good looking, so no pics on that.

Taste-wise, I must say that the chocolate was smooth and the kick from the pepper was just nice. Perfectly done! Much better than Chocz (sorry Sing, I know you love them)!

I think I can eat this like a chocolate lolly. Yums. Hahaha...

Macarons from Pierre Herme! Remember my previous post about macarons from Pierre Herme? Well...my bro's friend was in Paris and she bought a box of them! Not for us though. This lot is my bro's job to pass to said friend's sis. :( I also want....

The box is uber cute, isn't it?

Child clogs from Amsterdam! Nice and bright and surprisingly light too! Why wear clogs? Same reason as our cha-kia(s) where it keeps your feet nice and dry when the roads/ streets are flooded. Don't forget that the Netherlands are low-lying and parts of it is below sea level.

The Longchamp package meant for a client. She ordered the limited edition "Sergeant Colonel" Le Pliage in Bilberry (see side pic).

My brother happily said 'yes' when the SA asked whether he would like it to be gift packaged. :( Now I can't see the actual bag. Ah well...at least my client will know that it is 100% authentic!! Hope she is thrilled to have it. I know that its sold out in Singapore. Especially the graphite colour.

Wee~ Europe and all the food/ bags/ shopping!!
OH

MY

GOODNESS...

I

WANT

Congrats to Moon for winning Her World's Project Makeover last night!! I also found out that somebody *ahem* has a new bf and her reason for NOT telling me was because "it happened very fast." Hello...as a best friend, I demand knowing full details from start to current etc! What's his full name? Age? Occupation? How did you meet him? How did you two get together etc!!

Ok...I shall grill you during your bday celebrations. Heheh...be prepared! No presents till you spill the story!

That's Moon doing her little spiel on Clinique and their products during their workshop...

Ok...I shouldn't have been lazy. I didn't wear any make up and looked so washed out next to Ms Project Makeover. =P

All the contestants....

Spot the celebs! Andrea de Cruz, Melody Chen, Randall Tan and the singer from one of the singers from the rock band...aiyah...I can't remember his name. They're all seated in the front row, near the mannequin.

Moon receiving her bouquet of flowers plus the prizes of vouchers etc. As expected, she looks stunned and shaking with nervousness.

Congrats on winning the contest and on your new beau! See ya on your bday celebrations and we'll sing our hearts out. Ok...now its up to me, the organiser (what's new), to make the relevant reservations.
