Welcome to my blog !
It comes with great regret to announce the closing of Oct 1983.  It has been my online baby for the past 2.5 years but it has been a struggle to juggle my full time job, tutoring and this business.  As such, 30 June will be the last day of Oct 1983 products going on sale.

I would like to take the opportunity to thank friends who've been so supportive as well as clients who helped keep the business afloat. :)

Good news is, I'm having a clearance sale of up to 50% off!!  So please help me clear my stock and get a good deal while you're at it.  ;)

Thanks and peace out!  www.oct1983.com.sg

Hi all.  Apologies for the hiatus but as I've explained, I have been very busy studying for my CMFAS exams.  Anyhows, I also had promised to come up with some Christmasy products which I did in one night! Tada....

Kimono flower ear studs
Agate Spiral Bracelet
This is a personal favourite.  The colours are so bright and cheery...suits Christmas to a T! Thus, I named it the Christmas Ribbon earrings.  I know...not very creative. Haha...
Continuing with the Ribbon theme is this dewdrop earrings.  I just felt that the purple is such a sweet colour and the blue faceted crystal bead really complements it.
Now, for the luxe creation.  This necklace is made with 14k gold plated parts (including the hooks) and with quartz 'tear drops'.
 Above - Gothic Heart SOLD
I love the burst of red and gold in this bracelet.  Really makes a statement!!

For those who prefer something a lot more subdued.  This long chain necklace will suit them perfectly. Simple, clean but yet has that fun element in it.

I still have another necklace but I couldn't take a good shot of it because it is sooo long.  I can't wait to take a good shot of it and post it up soon as I think it's a piece that's so sweet and easy to match!

Above pieces can be viewed and purchased at www.oct1983.com.sg.  Do feel free to email me if you have any queries and don't forget that I do accept customisation orders!

Merry Christmas folks!

When inspiration hits, it really grips you and you cannot shake it off until you give in to it. My colleague passed me some pieces of her semi-precious stones to re-do them into other pieces, especially the earrings because her ears are allergic to non-precious metals. I didn't take the before pictures because....they're really quite haphazard and some of them are just crystals.

Anyhows, I'm so proud of these two pieces which I made tonight! I had been thinking about these two designs since this morning when my colleague passed me her stash. The top is a pair of chandelier earrings made with rose quartz hung on 14k gold plated hooks and anchored with strands of 14k gold plated chain.

The bottom is a bracelet which I made by creating spirals with an 18 gauge (if I remember correctly) wire. Instead of chaining them up with single jump rings, I doubled them to give it a slightly chunkier feel. My colleague doesn't remember what stone that is...but I'm guessing it is agate. Both designs can be seen on the "Customised" page on www.oct1983.com.sg.

I charge according to the amount and cost of materials used and labour. Feel free to contact me for your bespoke pieces!!

Hi everyone,

OCT 1983 is going to do its part for the earth and will be going green! Do look out for tags "Go Green" where we reuse parts of old jewellery to make something new. Not only will we help the environment, this will also lower our prices!

Do you have old jewellery that you don't wear any more? Do you want to update them or just donate them for our green cause? Send me an email with the picture of your old jewellery and state in your email whether you want to update it (there will be charges for workmanship and any other material cost incurred) or just to donate it!

When I've earned enough money to learn silver-smithing, I intend to make green jewellery from reused silver and gold too. So...please support this green movement!

Remember, its about maintaining the limited resources that we have on earth. Who said that you can't save the earth while looking good? ;)
