Niagara Falls...I'm sooo going back again!

It was a bright and early morning and off we went to Niagara Falls again! It's butt/ fingers/ any exposed body part FREEZING!! Doesn't help that the wind and mist from the falls make it worse!

But the view....awesome!!! I'm soooooo going to Canada one day and see the falls from the Canadian side. Gorgeous and wonderful.

I hide my face slightly behind my mum to get some warmth...lol... :P

It was so hard to even open your eyes as the wind was just blasting in my face as well as from the back. What a huge contrast to the beautiful weather that we met in D.C. Now I know why people love Spring.

After an hour of photo-taking and being frozen...we were off to an extremely loooooong drive to Boston where we were greeted with a lobster dinner!!

Check out this monster lobster. This humongous lobster is almost the same size as a briefcase. I kid you not!!
A lobster each!!! *HUGE WIDE GRIN* Kindly ignore how tired and crappy I look. Travelling non-stop for 5-6 hours does that to you. :P
The next day...we started off at 6.30am in the morning *groan* and we were off to Harvard and MIT. Look at the nice sunrise...

Tadah....Harvard's Central Library - the 5th largest collection in the world. Woo...that's a lot of books.
Gor kept saying, "Do your MBA here lah!" -_-; Uh...I don't intend to do any masters for now. Maybe next year or the year after. But doing my MBA in Harvard Business School? I'll keep dreaming about it for now...

Below...MIT! The home of the really smart people. This is their famous dome where they have something called 'hacks' where they've put toilet bowls, cars, mini space shuttles and loads of other statements on top of the dome.

You can read all about the different hacks on the website http://hacks.mit.edu/. One of my faves is where they put a solar-powered subway car on the dome.

Ok...I'm going to end here as the post is getting a wee bit too long...will talk more about boston tomorrow! Cheerios!!

moooving along...

Still enroute to Niagara Falls and we stop by Hershey's!! The chocolate tour is a short ride with singing cows and the usual explanation on how chocolate is manufactured. At the risk of sounding atas (snobbish for those non-Singaporeans), I couldn't help but miss my Godiva, Lindtt and Sins. That didn't stop us from buying 3 kgs worth of chocs for colleagues, friends and CNY. Btw, I must say that Reese's chocs are very yummy...and I don't even like peanut butter.

After that sweet stopover, we headed over to Corning Glassware...yep, they manufacture those famouse Corningware crockery. Didn't buy a thing. Their loose glass beads were uber boring.

The usual glass blowing show etc. This photo doesn't do him justice but the young man on the left is not bad looking! I believe his name is Gabe. That is IF I remember it correctly. LOL.

That, my friends, is the oldest piece of glass known to be made by man. Glass was discovered by the Egyptians and it wasn't clear. Did you know that glass can oxidise too? That's why this piece of glass is creamy-brown when it was originally greenish blue.

Think this is a painting? You are wrong, my dears. This is made up of tiny tiny glass pieces placed together by a Mr Mosiac. Each 'tile' is about 1mm wide.
I love this chess set....I sooo want to get my hands on one. It's the Catholics vs. the Jews!! Hilarious!!
Shaky, blurred photo thanks to my bro.... -___-

Soon, we got back on the road and finally arrived at Niagara Falls!!!!!!

That's the largest waterfall in Niagara and it's called the Horseshoe Falls aka Canadian Falls as most of it is within Canada. Those lights and buildings you see in the background is Canada.

Those spots are snow. :)

It was freaking freezing la....I was struggling to take good photos with frozen fingers...thank goodness we brought heatpacks!

I'm not sure whether you're able to see the photo clearly but below are the rapids from the falls as they go downstream.

After freezing our butts off for about 20 mins, we headed off to Buffalo City which is where our hotel is. Drew back the curtain and this is what we saw....

Eeeeee.....tacky DOUBLE statue of liberty-wannabes on a building! Seriously, what were these people thinking?

Thank goodness the street looks rather normal...but freezing, as you can see...
We'll be seeing the Niagara Falls in its daytime glory tomorrow...so cheerios and it's off to bed!

Philadelphia/ Washington D.C.

Let it rain...let it rain....we woke up to the pouring rain in Philly...what a dampener...literally. Thank goodness my bro brought a poncho and a brolly. So, braving the rain, we went down the bus and took a quick picture of Independence Hall, which is featured on the $100 bill.

Below is the Liberty Bell that the Brits gave to America. It used to be lugged around during battle. Can you imagine? You're fighting and two dudes have to 'protect' this bell? Maybe hiding inside would be safer...lol

Philadelphia is also famous for being the city of...Benjamin Franklin, one of the forefathers of the USA. It's no wonder that he's also on the $100 bill.

Speaking of money...we went to the Mint where they manufacture coins. Gor and I couldn't help but think, "I wanna see where they manufacture the NOTES!" Well, we'll only pass by it in D.C.

After visiting the United States Mint, we were on our way to Washington D.C. and on the $50 note is....

That's not the White House...hahaha...some of you were thinking that, right? Don't deny!!! It's Capitol Hill, my dears :)

The weather in D.C was fantastic! It was nice and 'warm' (think 18-20 deg C) and it felt like Spring. Afterwards, we went off to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History which is the museum where the movie "Night at the Museum" is based on.

Ladies, I bet you'll like the following....

Look at the size of the Hope Diamond *eyes bulging*!!

Marie Antoinette's earrings....beautiful!!!
Pink Diamond!!! I want!!!!!!

This is a real life screen of the earthquakes in the world. Did you know that there are earthquakes happening in the world all the time, just that most of them are so small that you hardly feel a thing.

Doesn't this look familiar? Yup...its the Easter Island Statue that was featured in the movie.

This is then the White House.
The above is the National Christmas Tree. I kid you not. They've got a National Christmas Tree. I'm surprised that Singapore didn't come up with a similar thing...but then, Singapore has to be non-religious right?

That's the Lincoln Memorial and below is the actual thing!
Washington Memorial from Jefferson Memorial. Yup...the place is full of memorials...well, it IS the capital...

Jefferson Memorial.
Washington Memorial from the Lincoln Memorial with the reflection pool.
Korean War Memorial.
Below is the Vietnam War Memorial.
My favourite photo of the mauve sky below.
Yet another day goes by and it's time to head off to dinner and our hotel. Tomorrow will be another chapter :)
