My ex-boss came to town yesterday!! We met up with a couple of our ex-colleagues (although I've never met one of them) and through our conversation, I realised that politicking in that firm is really really rampant. I know that politics is inevitable in most firms, especially large ones, but the stories that I've heard from this particular firm is AMAZING.
In some ways, I feel glad after hearing these stories. It's not just me. I'm not alone. I was just another target for the rumour gossip mill that stale old bitches have in order to amuse themselves because work doesn't give them pleasure. Some friends of mine would probably say that these people aren't getting enough in bed. HAHAHA...oooh...naughty.
I'm now in a happier place emotionally. I still have my ups and downs and I'm still struggling with some hormonal issues but I think it'll soon sort itself out. :) I'm glad that life's a roller coaster at times cos I'm an adrenalin junkie!! LOL....kidding.....

As per my previous post, I went to watch Glen Goei's "The Blue Mansion" on Sunday after a fun-filled day at Sentosa. I saw the trailers ages ago and had wanted to watch it way before it opened. I'm a big supporter of local films (except Jack Neo...sorry, but he makes movies, not films) and I must say that "The Blue Mansion" went beyond my expectations and far delivered more than it markets itself.
The story tells of Wee Bak Chuan, a pineapple tycoon and philanthropist although his children would call him a tyrant/ dictator. He dies a sudden death and he is left in limbo figuring out whether he died of unnatural causes. His death allows him to see the fractions in his family and how little he knew and understood his family.
"The Blue Mansion" has everything - comedy, mystery and drama. It even skims the topics of forbidden love, sacrifice, guilt and when love can become overbearing.
The script was hilarious and the acting was top notch, as one would expect from the stellar veteran cast of Adrian Pang, Lim Kay Tong, Neo Swee Lin, Emma Yong and Tan Kheng Hua.
What more can I say? Just go on and watch it!!!

Long post alert!
Wee~~ Sunday was such a wonderfully relaxing day. (^^)v Chilled out with Siew Mai at Sentosa in the afternoon till night. I had completely forgotten that the Barclay's Open was on but thank goodness I wasn't driving into Sentosa so I just had to put up with the usual weekend crowd.
First up...we went to the Fish Reflexology!! I really like the fish reflex in Sentosa compared to Kenko. Look at the pic below!!

Talk about swarming to my feet!! Look at how clean the fish tank is!! Compare THAT to Kenko and you'll understand one of the reasons why I prefer this place. ;) Siew Mai's reaction was damn funny!! I have a video but she'll kill me if I were to put it up on my blog for all to see...so I've placed it on facebook for our friends to laugh about. Hahaha... =D The pic below is a snapshot of her reaction yesterday...

Siew Mai described the feeling of those doctor fish nibbling to be like tiny electric shocks. To me...it felt like being constantly tickled and nipped at. :P
After having our feet nibbled at, massaged and our shoulders massaged, we moved onto the Underwater World!
At the Underwater World...we first went to the Touch Pool!!

Fugu!! Puffer Fish!! I actually touched a puffer fish!! The body of the fish is so soft and squishy...I want to squish it again!! Hur hur hur...yes, a very harassed puffer fish.

At the stingray feeding pool...I can't believe how tame these rays are!! Super greedy too...they literally kinda jumped up to grab the food. There was this irritating boy who was taunting the poor stingrays by sticking his hand out but moving it away whenever the stingrays came near to it. -__-; That boy ought to be smacked.

はい。。。記念写真!!I'm getting good at this self taken shots! Hiak hiak hiak... ;)

Garden Eel...they look like tiny snakes sticking out of the sand...looks a little icky when there are sooo many of them.

Pencil fish...another weird looking creature. Is it really a fish?????

Above is an angel fish. Mind you, this little fella is only about 0.1cm long and this was the largest of them all. Quite an interesting creature considering that it has no eyes and probably relies on its other senses to catch its prey. What prey? No idea...plankton??

We saw a lot of other marine life but I'm just going to show the more interesting ones! :)

Leafy seadragons...how cute!

Wah...Japanese spider crab! I want to eat one! HAHAHAHA....oops...

Sharky sharks...I love looking at sharks...can't wait to dive near sharks...sharky sharks!! Don't eat shark's fin!! Yes...I'm one of those who won't serve shark's fin soup at my wedding...if I do I get married. No...WHEN I get married! ;)

I've got no idea what this is called but I'm calling it a sea cockroach because it looks like one. It's damn huge. It's the same size as an average lobster minus the claws and feelers. Yuck. Giant sea cockroach. Yuck.

Gracie - the Dugong. She was stranded off Pulau Ubin when her mother was caught and died in a fishing net. The Dugong is probably what sailors mistook as mermaids. Especially when the female dugongs tend to cradle their young like women.

A black clown fish! This is the first time I've seen a black one. I've seen a few orange ones in Bali when I went diving...but black? Interesting...

My frozen lychee daiquiri and Siew Mai's Hoegaarden. Mmm...what a nice thing to start our dinner and to cool ourselves down after a warm afternoon.

Dinner was pizza with Jalapeño peppers and sausage. Ooh...the heat from the peppers was shiok!
After dinner, we went to Vivo and caught "The Blue Mansion". I'll blog about it in my next post as I think it deserves a proper review/ post! All in all, Mel is a happy girl. :) すごく満足でした!Nice way to end the weekend and hopefully, chase the coming Monday blues... :D

Just received a call from a salesperson who was trying to sell me this hotel/ restaurant membership. I know that I used to be a member but I am NO longer one and I am NOT interested in getting it again.
Which part of NO did she not understand? The ‘N’ or the ‘O’? “No, I’m not interested” means NO…it is not an opening line for you to start telling me how worth it this membership is!! Woman…you KNOW that I used to be a member and the fact that I told you that I’m not getting it again for the simple reason that I did not make full use of it means….NO!
Ughs…some salespeople really need to know when to shut up and just move on.

*Stares into the black hole known as my wallet*
My wallet is in peril. Rather, my bank account is in peril.
I've been smacked with a $450 medical bill just last week thanks to a blood test. I had to draw 3 tubes worth of blood (nurse insists that its less than 9ml) for what seems like a thousand hormone tests. Each hormone test costs $30 something and the consultation fee alone was $80. *faint*
You must be wondering why I'm doing a battery of tests. Basically, I've recently found out that my hormones are out of whack and I need to fix it QUICK.
This hormone shit is really putting me out of whack. My mood swings are terrible, my attention span is affected, I'm more blur on certain days AND it's causing me to put on weight!! I go to the gym at least twice a week and I have pilates every week as well as weekly taiji lessons. No weight loss nor maintenance. Worst thing is that it is causing me to skip my periods with very painful periods when it does come. Ok...I shan't go into details.
Ladies - lesson learnt for me is this: even if it seems like a small issue, just talk to your doctor about it. Health is very important AND you'll never know if it'll get worse with age. Best to nip it in the bud!

Went to IL's daughter's 1st birthday party on Sat afternoon and she's adorable (the baby of course) and she's looking more and more like IL!! Even her 'boyfriend', CL's son was there and it was just good fun to see babies interacting with each other. Oh...my maternal instincts are out in full force...I want a baby too!! Haha...that probably scared off half of Singaporean single heterosexual men. :P
Anyways...here are some pics from the party minus babies as I haven't gotten permission from the mummies to post them on my blog :)

Hmm...what will baby choose first??
Hahaha...she immediately went for the chicken wing...THRICE!!! This is a baby who'll never go hungry.

Highlight of the day - THE CAKE!! Adorable, isn't it? Except for the chocolate supposed-to-look-like-Minnie-Mouse bits at the corners. The whole cake is edible except for the candle and plastic toys. Too bad I left before eating a bite of this cake as I had to rush off to Orchard for Her World magazine's "Make Me Over" workshop/ seminar.
Happy Birthday Jaz!! Hope you like the dress that I bought for you and stay cute always!! :D

Came across this blog today (thanks Kenneth for the link) and I agree with her and we Singaporeans are ignorant about the abundance of flora and fauna on our tiny island. We think that wildlife is non-existent here but it is not true! There are tons of wildlife to be found. But having said that, the sad truth is also that our rapid urbanisation is killing precious species. I shan't repeat too much of what this blogger has said and I shall leave you to read her post.

This is terrible…I’m looking through the movie section in the newspapers and websites AND I WANNA WATCH MORE MOVIES!!! I’m spending too much $$ on watching movies. I’m going to go broke from just movies. But I love movies…. =( I can’t wait for Glen Goei’s “Blue Mansion” and I want to watch “500 days of summer”, “Amalfi”, “Tokyo Sonata”, the meatball animation one, “Caroline” and many more!! Terrible, terrible…*stares at bank account balance* terrible, terrible….*sigh*

Went to watch "April Bride" with Siew Mai yesterday evening. The movie's title literally translates to "Bride who has 1 more month to live" and it is about Nagashima Chie who was diagnosed with breast cancer in her twenties. However, she fell in love with a salaryman whom she met after her diagnosis. She keeps her condition from him until she has to undergo a surgery to remove her breast. Nonetheless, her cancer returns and spreads to her bones. With only a month left to live, the movie depicts how her boyfriend sticks by her while she struggles with her illness. In the end, he marries her in April, just a short bit before she dies.
The pace of the movie was a little slow and of course, there were several tear jerking moments. However, I liked the fact that the director didn't try to glorify Nagashima's illness nor over portrayed the devotedness of the boyfriend. Good chick flick where the guys will get bored while their female friends get weepy. Definitely one for the DVD rental.
***
The movie experience was spoilt for me by this irritating couple who was sitting next to me. Firstly, the guy had to open his legs so wide that it pressed my bottle of tea against my thigh. He was obviously dragged to watch this movie by his girlfriend so he was completely bored from the beginning. To make things worse, he kept sending text messages and when he was waiting for a reply, he turned his phone towards me...which obviously irritated me. Imagine, you're trying to watch a movie and you get random glares of light on your side. Ughs. Then his girlfriend tried to grab his phone away from him and then they had a few friendly tussles. Hello. YOU are not the only people in the cinema or row. Have some consideration for those around you for goodness sakes!!
The highlight of the evening was when we suddenly heard Shania Twain belting out "You're Still the One" and it was actually somebody's mobile phone ringing. Oddly enough, that song kinda fit the scene where Nagashima was lying in her hospital bed and her boyfriend was comforting her. Ultimate spoiler was when mobile phone owner said (not whispered) "I'm watching a movie. Ya...ya...ya...I'm now in the cinema." WTH. -__- Seriously...ughs.

Yesterday was my actual birthday and here are some pictures of the wonderful celebrations that day! It started off during lunch where my boss treated me to lunch at Kuriya @ Great World City. I thought it was on L2, which it used to be but they moved to the ground floor near the office block. We walked a few rounds before going to the correct one. How embarassing...even my boss went, "Eh...I'm treating you to lunch and you're making me walk for like 20 mins before we find the place...not paiseh ah?" She was half joking and obviously exaggerating the 20 mins. :P
Anyhows...here are some of the pics from our lunch (I forgot to take some of them but anyhows...I'm sure you've seen sushi and soup before):

Crab and grilled fish on a special leaf (can't remember the name).

Broiled items: Hamachi with mushrooms, carrots and gingko

Dessert was seasonal fruit with coffee mousse cake and vanilla ice cream. Very yummy!
My colleagues were very nice to have also organised a mini birthday celebration for me in the office! One of them had insisted that I go back to the office at 2pm first before going to the photoshop to develop some photos needed.

Later that evening, I had a nice quiet dinner with my family at Mezza9...

Mm....spring rolls...gotta love the sauce but I put too much on mine and I tasted more sauce than spring roll. :P

Yummy crab cakes to share...yay...real solid crab meat in them...mm.....

If you look to the left, can you see the tiny brand printed on the salt and pepper grinder/ shaker?
Yah...never knew Peugot made these as well. Thought it was just cars.... hmm....
And for the main entrées.....

Gor and I had the mixed grill that has tenderloin, half a roasted chicken, lamb chops and sausages. Oh...let me tell you a roll-eyes moment with the waiter. We had a choice between pork or chicken sausages. Here's how the conversation went:
Me: Oh, how many sausages are there?
Waiter: There are 2 m'am.
Me: Oh, can we have 1 pork and 1 chicken sausage then?
Waiter: Sorry m'am but the pork sausage is very large and so they slice it up while the chicken sausage is smaller so they can give you 2.
Me: *Rolls eyes and then looks at Gor* okkk.....
So we settled for the pork sausage in the end. Look at the pic. Do you see the pork sausage sliced??? It is STILL 2 sausages. -__-

Parents both ordered the tenderloin and they said that it was very good. Came with a side of grilled peppers and salad.
Mum left my cake at home so off we went for the cake cutting! :) Yeah...2 cakes in a day...thank goodness I went to the gym on Monday.

My deliciously light but creamy cake from
Gobi Desserts again! I'm seriously not advertising for them but their cakes are delicious! Better than Bakerz Inn by a hundred fold.
The 600g/ 700g cake comes in this adorable cake box that resembles a carousel.
Downside of this cute box is that it is darn difficult to put it back together once you've opened it.
Below: Baileys hoping for a bite as well!! Blurred photo courtesy of Gor *gives Gor "The Look"*.

A probable Part 6 to my celebration happened today because my workplace held a Deepavali Bazaar where 2 henna artists were hired to give us free henna art!

Nice, nice nice???? Hur hur hur....
Thus ends my Birthday celebrations! Wee~~~ I love birthdays!! ;)
